Commitment is no substitute for love

Just found another good old one...


Commitment is no substitute for love,
Duty and devotion cannot replace,
The passion that compels the heart to love,
Beyond its means.

Commitment could not have convinced,
The Son of God to die for us,
Just because He thought He should,
But love for the Father and love for us,
Drove Him to that place.

And He calls us to follow Him,
And do the same,
Despite the pain.
