Searching on the shoreline

I wrote this so, so long ago, just come across it and thought I would share.

Nothing’s ever real until you’ve touched it,
But at your touch it seems to turn to dust in your hands.
Nothing’s ever there until you’ve seen it,
But what you see is never quite what you had in mind.

Gathering fragmented, broken diamonds,
Hoping that one day you’ll find the brightest shining jewel.
But if you don’t have faith and will not trust Him,
Why do you bother gathering anything at all?

Blue is not your colour so why wear it?
You’re not so very tall that you have need to look down.
You build your sand castles near the water,
Then you look so puzzled when all your efforts drown.

You search for comfort, love, fulfillment,
You dread the thought of being left on your own.
You’ve searched everywhere that you can think of,
Except the one love that has been there all along.

You say He’s gone you cannot hear him,
You cannot see His face, how can He be there?
But deeper than this, you do not feel Him,
No, wait, you feel your sorrow and know this feeling He shares.

No one can feel sorrow quite like He can,
No man can feel more left alone that Him on that cross,
And it is His voice you hear now calling;
Come unto me, come regain all that was lost.

For my grace runs far deeper than vision,
My love is much closer than what you touch with your hand.
So why to you crawl along this pathway,
When I have the power to make you to stand;
Will you trust my guiding hand?
