In the Garden

In the Garden

Eden

In the garden innocence ended,
In the garden death was begun,
In the garden self-awareness created,
In the garden old Adam fell.

But love is our natural state,
We were created to be this way,
Love is a natural thing,
Why did they have to mess it up
Just like everything else?

In the garden justice met judgement,
In the garden peace met fear,
In the garden close fellowship ended,
In the garden the snake tempted Eve.

In the garden war was beginning,
In the garden the creation of greed,
In the garden equality finished,
In the garden Adam misled by Eve.

But love is our natural state,
We were created to be this way,
Love is a natural thing,
Why did they have to mess it up
Just like everything else?

Gethsemane

In the garden Jesus pleaded with Father,
If there is another way, let it be so,
In the garden sorrow unending,
Yet not my will but yours be done.

In the garden the disciples were sleeping,
In the garden while Jesus wept,
In the garden something beginning,
In the garden Jesus surrendered to God.

Now love is our natural state,
He taught us it is this way,
Love is a sacrificial thing,
But why did He have to die?
Was there no other way?

Outside the Tomb

In the garden the power of sin ended,
In the garden stands Jesus alive,
In the garden our risen saviour,
Has beaten death and has given us life!

In the garden now shining in glory,
In the garden Eternity begun,
In the garden the final solution,
Through the cross we can be one.

Now love is our natural state,
In Him it can be this way,
Love is a natural thing,
When we have died to self,
And risen to new life in Him.

In the garden family created,
In the garden God’s perfect plan,
In the garden new Adam takes over,
Old creation is finished, a new time begun.
